Etsy Love - Paper Art by bookBW

How awesome is this paper ornament! It is constructed of origami stars, folded and stitched together to form  a paper ornament. Lovely work by Etsy artist Benjamin Wierel, aka bookBW.

It's my favorite thing this Thursday.

Paper Art Dreams - 3D Butterfly

This wonderful butterfly sculpture is made out of paper by AnneMarie Lieftink a.k.a paperartdreams, an artist I found on Etsy.

I love how serene it looks and how all the little paper pieces come together in one great form.

Great job AnneMarie!!!

Sleeping Baby

This "Baby sleeping father hands" Giclee print by OrangeOptimist on Etsy catches the most perfect news in my life perfectly.

My baby boy has arrived, healthy and hungry, and occupies my nights and days with perfect efficiency :) Dad is here to lend a helpful hand, but it's up to mama to keep him happy and well-fed.

So, on that note, I'll be taking a little break from blogging and creating paper pieces for a few weeks, just so I can bond with my boy and recover.

Please email me / leave comments / check out my Etsy shop if you see something that you like here and would like to talk to me about paper flowers for your wedding and I'll do my best to reply in a timely manner.

Thanks for understanding and be back to blogging soon!

Fox Clock

I want this wall clock!!!

The design is awesome, it is made from bamboo, and it goes perfectly with a blue wall - just like the one we already have in our home.

See it in Graphic Space Wood's shop on Etsy here.

Plastic Bottle Lights

Can you believe that these beauties are made from recycled materials? Soda bottles, to be more precise.

The creator is Sarah Turner, an award-winning eco designer who likes to make beautiful items from waste materials.

I'm in love with her work!!!

See more of her lighting fixtures in her Etsy shop.

Amazing!!!

Porcelain Lace Cup

This pretty thing can be found in Hideminy's shop on Etsy.

I adore the intricate lace work, the delicate imprint on the porcelain, the softness of it all.

Gorgeous...

Matte Stephens on Etsy

I found Matte Stephens' Large Giant Suburban Bear Monster as it visits Chicago today and simply could not resist sharing it on my blog.

The shroud of rain hasn't left Cambridge in weeks and this toothy Large Giant Bear is sweet enough to cheer me up on yet another gray day.

I also love the couple meeting to feed birds in the rain.

Strawberry Blossoms

Something about this art piece by Amborela has me all in a spring mood (which this year came all to late to Massachusetts). I especially like the crocheted flowers attached to the canvas. There's really something in that... it makes me want to learn how to crochet... it shouldn't be too hard, right?

Blue Silk Bolero

My red silk wedding bolero which I still adore was created by Angelika Liv, and during a recent search on Etsy for blue things, I came across this little number.

Such prettiness...

hand-sewn paper butterfly - part II

I recently made a lilac paper butterfly and used a pretty red silk thread to stitch the pattern on the wings.

This butterfly is the smaller 5-6" version.

The idea is the same: paper-piecing, silk thread and wire to create the body of the butterfly.

It is painstaking work to create such prettiness, but I so love the final effect that I had to make this double as a wall art piece.

A small wire loop was attached at the back to allow the butterfly to land on your favorite wall piece, picture frame, or a paper flower you happened to have hanging around... :)

hand-sewn paper butterfly

The idea for this hand sewn butterfly came to me from the fabric sewn moths made by an artist that goes by the name of BlueTerracotta on Etsy.

I had some nice silk stitching thread and pretty lavender paper, so piece by piece, stitch-by-stitch, the butterfly got its beautifully detailed wings.

I added a bit of wire at the back to make it easy to hang on the wall.

Fire Palette - Paper Flower Pomander with Butterflies

Let's start 2011 with hot fiery colors -
I'm into reds, bright yellows and oranges... an homage to the magnificent outside fire we had at the cabin in the woods over New Year's.
Pomander = paper flowers + paper butterflies + red satin ribbon

Walls Touched by Lavender

Lavender, in scent and color, is one of the most soothing things.

I like it in my tea, I like it in my Dagoba chocolate, and I really like it on my walls.

Check out these new hanging paper flowers a.k.a. wall art pieces - made on winter afternoons.

Add more aqua to your life...

Maybe it's the snow casting blue shadows outside, or the color of the sky today, but it has me thinking in happy bluish tints :)

When you need a few blue touches to your day...

I shamelessly suggest these from my shop :)

Dragonflies in December

Yes,...dragonflies... what could be more Christmasy?
:)

Well, ok, maybe dragonflies don't spell Christmas, but these larger-than-life-size paper dragonflies were made to embellish creative gifts this holiday season.

Custom-made for a friend.
