PAPER ROSES

I first learned how to make paper roses thanks to an online tutorial from a wonderful English woman called Paula.

Since then, I have tried to perfect the basic principle and expand on it in any way I can.

For my new method of making paper roses, please see the image below (made by yours truly) or click to see the full tutorial here.

And where would pretty flowers be without their leaves?

These little additions really make paper flowers come alive, especially for vase flowers or lovely lovely bookmarks.

HAND-SEWN BUTTERFLIES
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
To create this stunning hand-sewn butterfly, I used card stock paper in pretty light lavender and dramatic red silk embroidery thread.

First I traced the butterfly wing details in regular blue pen (one wing section at a time), then stitched the details in red thread. To create the butterfly's body, I used a bit of rolled up paper and lots of the same red thread. The antennae are made from green floral wire.

There's looped wire at the back for easy hanging and that's it - pretty simple, right?

I'm happy to say that this particular butterfly currently hangs on the wall of my dear friend Belinda, together with another smaller butterfly and a few wall paper flowers.
