Paper Flowers Bouquet

Paper flower bouquet constructed out of handmade paper roses, blue paper flowers with pearls and soft fabric blossoms with glass beads.

I used only paper, wire, pearl beads, glass beads, fabric flowers, and pretty ribbon (silk, satin and printed satin). A single paper butterfly adorns the handle of the bouquet.

7" - 8" wide, 9" high.

It's perfect for a handmade wedding, don't you think?

How I Adore Blue Paper Flowers

My closest friends and family members know that my favorite color is blue. I like to see it in my New England sky, on my clothes, shoes, accessories, make-up, furniture, walls, wedding details, everywhere...

So, it's no wonder that I started making blue paper flowers.

The one above is made from turquoise blue crepe paper with some wire and 3 pearl beads. It's perfect as a gift box topper, wedding decoration, or as a simple flower-in-a-little-vase centerpiece for a favorite coffee table or a bookshelf.

And speaking of blue flowers, some of you might remember the one with LED lights I made this winter. It's currently in our bedroom, sitting in a vase next to our bed. I like to turn the LEDs on every once in a while and let it cast a lovely blue light.
We have a few of these flowers, so they make a pretty bunch :)

Some might also remember my large light-blue paper flowers which are adorable as wall art. I recently created something similar to these - a flower you can hang on your walls, a one-of-a-kind striped blue paper flower.

There's something special about blue flowers, isn't it?

As my husband and I are planning our move to a new apartment, I keep collecting swatches in a million shades of blue - each an inspiration on its own. We'll have plenty of white, too, so our blue paper flowers can still find a nice spot on our new walls...

Have a great weekend :)

3 Deep Purple + Green Flowers

Last night I played with my pretty double-sided paper and a new batch of cat-eye inking pads, and these 3 flowers came out as the result.

You can see that the deep purple leaves are handmade too. I used my lovely new gel pen in gold (from Paper Source) to draw the lines. They glitter in the sun - and stand out in such an awesome way against the dark purple.

I also had pretty buttons laying around, so each flower has 2 layered buttons (purple and lilac) for its center.

Munieca Drawings

I came across these drawings by Munieca, which I think are pretty adorable in a weird sort of way. I love the one with the girl whose hair turns to branches with leaves. How amazing is that :)

Happy Earth Day!!!

Paper Confetti

These are my newest paper confetti. Each butterfly, dragonfly, flower and dot has been hand-punched from pretty paper. I mostly use double-sided, card stock or shimmer papers.

You can see the latest confetti packages in my Etsy shop here.

The idea for creating paper confetti came to me as I was planning my wedding. I think these are a lovely alternative to tossing rice (which can bloat birds' bellies), or harmful plastic throwables. Instead, these paper thingies are all bio-degradable. They can even be used for embellishing albums, cards, invites, and so on.

I re-use everything, plastic bags, cereal boxes, you name it, so the plastic bags for the confetti come from other small items that I've purchased at craft stores. I make the little paper packaging add-on myself, and sometimes even the little tags (depending on the moment of inspiration).

Anyways, if you have a party coming up and would like to go for greener confetti, check out my little shop. I post new things almost every day.

Cheers!

Handmade Soap Flowers

These roses, lifelike as they are, are beautiful and functional, and smell sweet, too. The whole package :)

They are made from soap by Satin and Birch and can be found on Etsy.

Also, check out these pretty soap seashells.

A great thing to give away at weddings, or just to have in your own home.

Beautiful Seahorse

This is a great inspiration - a Plexiglas seahorse from I Wanna Be on Etsy.

I adore the doily-like pattern behind the acrylic Plexiglass, and the variety of birds and animals. Check it out!!

Atoms for Peace

... a memento from last night's Atoms for Peace concert at the Wang Theater in Boston.

I didn't have high hopes for the show since I thought they wouldn't play any Radiohead songs, but then... Thom Yorke played "Like Spinning Plates" (from "Amnesiac") oh-so- beautifully...

All the other songs from his Eraser album got their shining spot last night, and lost and gained something in one go. The sweet detachment I can't help but imagine and like in that album was lost (as it was inevitable), but it was a happy loss - we all got much more by hearing it live by an ever-improvising, and even dancing, Thom Yorke.

Yes, the biggest surprise of all - Thom Yorke's little dance. I never thought he was the dancing sort of a lead singer, but it was such a delight to see him move about on the stage, forever swapping instruments, dancing, laughing, being his happy self.

Amazing :)

Let It Be Mobile

One of my favorite Etsy sellers "CraftSchmaft" offers PDFs on how to create your own Owl Mobile. These are some of the cutest mobiles I've seen on Etsy.
Definitely worth the try :)

I also like these from PinkPerch:

White Pomander

Unlike my other flower spheres, this pomander was not made with handmade paper flowers, but it's pretty special in its own right. I only used soft white fabric flowers and lovely organza ribbon (for hanging).

It makes me think of weddings, spring and white fluffy clouds.

You can see it better in my Etsy shop.

Paper Bag

Ah.. this is genious!!

If there ever was a love at first sight, this is it!!! I LOVE this paper bag!

It was designed by Saskia Diez and Stefan Diez. This bag (part of their "Papier" series) can even serve as a travel bag, and instead of using leather and reinforced textiles to make it, the designers went for synthetic paper that is extremely lightweight and durable, even water-proof and tear-proof.

What's best about it - The material is completely recyclable.

"Papier" won the German Designpreis 2010.

Genious!

Love Sugar Design

These awesome birds and flowers (featuring wonderful use of color) were created by LoveSugarDesign. You can find these prints in their Etsy shop, which I love to go and visit every once in a while, just to see the new things they post.

Their designs remind me of spring and, for some reason, tranquility.

Quite lovely, aren't they?
