Red Wall Art Flower

This red paper flower hangs on the wall of my studio room, and every once in a while I look at it and think how awesome it would be to have the whole wall covered in these - just a big giant accent wall - red flowers everywhere...

I wish I had more time to make them all.

...

But, for now, I'm happy with just the one :)

2 Spring Pink Roses

While I'm yet to see a real blooming rose in a park around Boston, I have paper roses to cheer up this rainy spring for me. A little ink, a few bits of paper, and you have yourself a handmade flower!

Cheers!

These are among the newest additions in my Etsy shop.

Inspiration Apples

I found these amazing apples in La Pomme's shop on Etsy. Simple and soothing.

Dragonflies, Flowers

These are some of the flower and dragonflies combo embellishments which I made since last week. I used layers of mulberry paper flowers and pretty metal brads to create the flowers (this way they can be easily attached to any sort of paper). Also, note the inked edges...
:)

The set below has metal brads in the form of cute green (and amazingly detailed) dragonflies. And for those that like dragonfly sticker embellishments, I created ones with jewel accent bodies that hover above flowers thanks to bits of foam tape.

You can see more embellishment sets here.

Burst of Red and Pink Flowers

I have this great red double sided paper with tightly arranged white polka-dots, which I have played with and cut out into 9 paper roses. If you look closely, you'll see that the red polka-dot roses show the other side of the double-sided paper - splashes of unexpected blue, yellow and green. I like it :)

I glued 19 of these and other paper roses in solid red and pink (with inked petals to give them a more realistic look) and created another pomander, this time a smaller one. Five pink butterflies sporting sparkling crystal bodies and soft paper antennae hover around the roses.
You can see the pomander in my shop here.

Upcycled Wool

I found these beautifully crafted accessories and decorations at ForMyDarling's shop on Etsy. They are all made from re-purposed wool and felt, and they bring a second chance for life to dull and forgotten things (and we all have some of those stashed somewhere in our closets).

I also like what Liz Noonan has done with a red wool sweater that once belonged to her dear granny - she turned it into two wool purses (with floral designs, which she did herself) for her daughters. She also has the tutorial, so if you like to create something new from a piece of clothing you can't seem to let go, you can see the tutorial here.

Paper Flower Sphere - Pomander

Over the weekend, I created this paper flower sphere out of 40 or so roses made from paper. Each rose was constructed from 5 layers of paper petals (drawn, cut, and inked by hand, then folded and glued in place).

Gently hovering above the roses are little handmade butterflies, which I also made, using stamps, papers, jewel and pearl accents, and bits of wire.
I used about 5-6 different shades of white, yellow and pink for the roses, and many other shades and patterns for the butterflies.

I also added pearlescent beads here and there, to complete the sphere. And, and nice raw silk ribbon holds it all together and can be used to hang the pomander from tree branches, doors, wreath holders and so on...

This pretty thing hangs in my studio for now, and you can also find it in my Etsy shop. I'll be making more paper flower spheres in the next few days, so more pictures are coming.

Thanks and enjoy!!!

Alice

I can't wait to see the new Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland - no matter what the critics say.

Maybe it's the talking flowers, or the Cheshire Cat, but I'm absolutely in love with the story. And being a Tim Burton's fan, I'm very excited to see his take on the world down the rabbit hole.
I'm sure it's going to be visually stunning and creative - as all of his work.

p.s. I would love to make some paper roses like the ones on the poster!!!
