Paper Fruit Post It Notes

Can you believe that these pretty fruits are not for eating?

They are made of paper and are a very creative way to leave notes to people. Forget the generic neon-colored sticky thingies - who would forget a note written on an apple slice, or a pear slice?

I'm absolutely in love with these memo pads!

You can find them here, in narayabags' shop on Etsy, along with a whole bunch of other creatively made pieces.

More Handmade Paper Flowers

These are some of the new paper flowers I've created.

Each flower is constructed from nice paper (K&Company, and Basil Basics). Several layers of petals that have been cut and formed by hand are glued together to form the peony-like shape. I then add the final touch - a simple pearlescent bead for the center, or several tiny handmade paper flowers.
Some of the new flowers have leaves that have been cut out of shimmering paper (I plan to add leaves to all of my gift toppers).

The whole process of making a single flower is a bit time-consuming (what with all the tracing, cutting, folding, and so on), but holding the actual results in my palm is so rewarding.

Nothing like making something fabulous out of paper on a rainy afternoon...

These flowers can be used, not only as gift box embellishments, but also as wedding decorations, as party favors, for constructing flower spheres, or simply as a single-flower-vase to cheer up a dull corner...

In any case, they look charming, don't they?

Paper Flower Gift Topper

I love paper.

It's probably my most favorite thing in the world.

And cheesy as it sounds, I also like flowers, especially the ones made of paper. So, for the last 2 years, making paper flowers has brought me so much joy that I still like to think of new techniques and tools to create oh-so-many different shapes.

What at first began as a wedding hobby (making paper decorations to keep the costs down), has turned into a great obsession for both flat and 3D flowers that can go on cards, as wall art, as gift toppers, wedding tree blossoms, confetti, LED light holders and lots more...

Check out my latest creation.

I bought beautifully textured paper yesterday, and today I made this paper flower that I think adds loads of charm to any gift box.

More flowers are in the making, so stay tuned...

Felted Roses

How pretty!!!

I think these are some of the most beautiful things I've seen made from wool felt. Lily and Susanna a.k.a Crafts2Cherish really know their roses.

Lovely...

Blue LED Light Flower

I've been experimenting with some LED lights I got from IKEA and some 5-petal flowers I made from baby blue card stock, and the results can be seen in the following images.

The LED lights are battery operated with 10 white lights in a row. I glued 2 5-petal leaf flowers and then poked 10 little holes for the lights. Once they are lit, the glare of the LEDs is pretty sharp, so to diffuse it I used white tissue paper curled up in the shape of an abstract rose and glued to the smaller of the two flowers.

You can see how sort of eary they look in the dark. I think I'll create a few more just to see how they would look scattered about the room.

25 People, 25 Bucks, 25 Pieces of Art

Liz Noonan is an artist who likes to work with re-purposed materials, or what other people consider "trash". Her latest project is on Kickstarter and it's pretty amazing.
Check it out!

Liz basically needs 25 people to send her stuff they no longer need, but find it hard to let go (like old T-shirts, or plates, or any other item or series of items dear to them, but no longer useful).
She will then figure out how to arrange the whole and create a work of art.

I can't wait to see the results.

Good Luck Liz!!!

More Paper Flowers

Hi everyone!! I hope you've had a nice start of the year, and are on your way to fulfilling your New Year's resolutions :)

For my first blog post this year, I decided to go back to my love for all flowers made from paper.

I made these flowers some time ago from card stock (some petals were lightly tinted with ink and chalk), and also wire, silver, pearl and buttons for accents. I'm currently working on paper flowers with LED lights, so I'll post the results once they are ready. Stay tuned...

In the meantime, enjoy some eco-friendly flowers I found from one of my favorite Etsy shops: TANGLeAndFold. One of the things I love about them is that they are green - and so beautifully constructed from up-cycled magazines and books by Jonathan from TANGLeAndFold.
